A new group for 2025-26

The group investigates and learns about environmental topics, including climate change, biodiversity loss, the food system, energy sources and pollution. In our first session, we have looked into:

• problems with fresh water
• soil degradation and soil erosion
• COP 30 - what it achieved, where it fell short
• biodiversity loss and species reintroductions in Scotland
• plastics pollution.

Each meeting focuses on a topic which is agreed at the previous meeting. Before the meeting, members research the topic, reading or viewing or listening to a variety of resources. During the meeting, we share what we've found and discuss the topic with the hope that everyone gets a better understanding. Sometimes, we consider what we could do to help reduce environmental problems.
