Birdwatching

Status:Active, open to new members
Group email: Birdwatching group
When: On Tuesday mornings 10:00 am-2:00 pm
Every four weeks, week 1, does not meet over the summer
Venue: As arranged

This group was set up in 2026 to provide an opportunity for those members interested in birdwatching and to join like-minded people to share ideas and experience.

No matter whether you are an experienced birder or indeed a complete beginner, anyone interested in the subject is welcome to come along.

The Aim: to enjoy the experience of looking for birds, both locally and a bit further afield. Also hopefully, members can develop understanding of how birds live and hone their skills in identification. We plan to work in relaxed easy manner taking ideas and suggestions from the whole group in terms of locations. Where possible use to be made of RSPB and SWT sites (fees might be payable from non-members) and probably out for around 4 hrs but within a reasonable travelling distance to Perth. Cafe stops to be included when possible to make the visits more social. Car sharing to be encouraged with a possible meeting point at Broxden. Members should be aware that there will be some walking around the sites to find the best places to view, so suitable clothing essential. If there is sufficient demand, it is intended that the group will operate throughout the whole year.
