Geology 1

Status:Active, open to new members
Group email: Geology 1 group
When: On Tuesday mornings 10:30 am-12:00 pm
Every four weeks, week 2
Venue: Unit 7

The group comprises an enthusiastic mix of beginners and those with more experience, who enjoy exploring new topics and learning as we go. We meet once a month in unit 7 and our meetings take a variety of forms. Last year we had two field trips, to Edinburgh and Arbroath, to study the geology (See photographs below). Our field trips replace our regular meetings and take the capabilities of all members into account, sticking to good paths, and relatively flat terrain. We aim to have one or two field trips each year, when the weather permits.

Our meetings in unit 7 vary from month to month. Some will be illustrated talks by one member on a topic or area that interests them, other meetings will be more interactive, with a number of members contributing or splitting into groups to explore different topics.

If you have ever wondered why the world looks like it does, how cliffs and mountains are formed, or would like to know more about the 4.6 billion years of the earth's history, this is the group for you.
