Mindfulness is concerned with living in the present, not obsessed with yesterday's regrets nor with tomorrow's fears. Each meeting will contain a meditation, an examination of an aspect of mindfulness and a discussion.

The group had a successful 2024-5 season. The small size of the group makes it easy for everyone to contribute and the different viewpoints have given valuable insights.

The format for each meeting has been to take a topic related to Mindfulness, then before the meeting to listen to up to four recommended talks on the internet (TED talks and other resources) or to do some individual research on that topic. At the meeting the topic has then been discussed using the preparatory study as a starting point and moving on to a wide-ranging discussion. At an appropriate stage of the meeting we have a short guided meditation.

This session, we used some resources from the u3a course on Mindful Ageing. In particular we studied how the breath can be used to anchor us in the present moment. The group is very much led by its members and each meeting produced the subject for the next one. Topics covered during the year included the 'Monkey Mind', Acceptance, Anger and Managing Emotions.
