We meet as a house group to read and study poetry together, starting our meetings with coffee. Each session we choose a selection of poets - most meetings we concentrate on one of these. Our usual pattern is to have past and present poets, Scots and English, female and male, and overseas poets including poetry in translation. We also decide topics which are the basis of free choices by members.

Our study poets in 2023-24 were The Brontes, Amanda Gorman, Rachel Long, Miroslav Holub, Stuart Paterson, Edwin Morgan, Robert Fergusson and James Hogg. We also had meetings on: The Seven Ages of Man, By Children for Children, and Lyrics and Librettos. We enjoy reading and discussing our selected poems and very much enjoy each other’s company. It is a social group as well as a learning opportunity.

We learn and laugh a lot!
